If they want to share code with others, they wont know what to tell the people they are sharing with. For all they know, OpenSCAD has it's own magical internal fonts. A user might not have any idea what font file is being loaded. The text() command doesnt provide any such indication. The difference is that 'use', 'include', 'import' all explicitly indicate to the user that something 'external' is being included and, the assumption is the user understands this may change if the external file is updated.
